28th-31st Mar, 2015 7th International Conference on Applied Energy
Kunta Biddinika made his presentation in 7th International Conference on Applied Energy@Abu Dhabi.

26th Mar, 2015 Graduation ceremony & farewell party
4 master students (Kitamura, Takahashi, Nakai, and Yoshida) completed master course and get master degree successfully. Congraturation!
Kitamura goes to doctor course and the other three work in private companies. I wish experiences in master course will help and support their lives anytime and anywhere.
March is happy, delightful, but a little sad season for University faculties in Japan.



Yoshikawa, Takahashi, and Tokimatsu lab. held a farewell party together in this day.
I always give one message to all graduates. I really wish my message will come true in the future.

26th Mar, 2015 Interim presentation for doctor degree
Kunda Biddinika made his doctor interim presentation. Let's conduct doctor research according to helpful comments from referees.

20th Mar, 2015 Excellent Poster award!
9 students in Takahashi lab. made their poster presentation in the workshop of JSMCWM, Kanto branch.



Hiroki Kitamura and Takuya Izumi won the excellent poster award. Congratulation!




2nd Mar, 2015 Coal mining site in Thailand
Takahashi visited coal mining site in Northern Thailand and waste landfill sites near Bangkok city for monitoring.
Mining is strongly related to waste management problem because it usually generates huge amount of pyproducts.
Waste dumping and/or disposal without imediate covering is very usual case in developing countries and it has caused environmental pollution. Such scenes were also usual in Japan until 1970s.




27th Feb, 2015 Selected to ACEEES!
Mengzhu SONG passed the selection of Academy for Co-creative Education of Environment and Energy Science (ACEEES), Tokyo Tech.
She belongs to both our department (Environmental Science and Technology) and ACEEES since April 2015 with ACEEES scholarship and tuition-free support. Congratulation!


18th Feb, Interim presentation for master degree
Lin and Izumi, 1st grade master students, made their interim presentation in English one day after master defence.

16th and 17th Feb, 2015 Final presentation for master degree
4 students (Kitamura, Takahashi, Nakai, and Yoshida) made their final presentation for master thesis defence in English.
Experiences in the past two years, like many presentations in English in lab. meeting and international conferences, help them for successful presentations.




22nd, Dec, 2014 2014 year-end party
We had a year-end party in a Japanese restaurant, called as Izakaya, jointly with Yoshikawa and Tokimatsu lab members!
Presentations in international conferences by Takahashi-lab. members increased so much in 2014 comparing with those in 2012 and 2013. Thanks for hard works and good presentations to all students. Only real experiences can improve our presentation skills. Such experiences will help you somethings, someday after you graduate here with master/doctor degree.
Ms. Jiang, who will join Takahashi lab. on April, 2015, also joined the party. Although our research group (Yoshikawa-Takahashi-Tokimatsu lab.) is already very international, Takahashi lab. itself also will become very international since April, 2015.




Xth, Dec, 2014 Birthday
Today is the birthday of Dr. Fumitake Takahashi. All students of Takahashi Lab. celebrated it and presented him assorted cheese, Luwak coffee and chocolate cake cooked by Mr. Nakai. Thank you very very much!
Luwak coffee, called as civet coffee, is dripped from coffee seeds collected from feces of Asian palm civet, which once eats coffee berries. We tried such unique coffee together.
This was the first time to taste Luwak coffee for all of us including Mr. Kunta from Indonesia.
The taste of this unique coffee, awarded Ig Nobel prize in 1995 as the most expensive coffee, is ... very acidic!




3rd, Dec, 2014 Master thesis titles
Master thesis titles of 4 master students (Kitamura, Takahashi, Nakai, Yoshida) were fixed and approved. It's the time to accelerate master research for thesis dissertation and defense on Feb. 2015.

28th, Nov, 2014 Takuya IZUMI came back from UP Diliman
Takuya IZUMI came back Japan from oversea stay in University of the Philippines, Diliman.
He will present his works and experiences in Metro-Manila at compulsory class, International Environmental Case Study, on Feb. 2015.


28th, Nov, 2014 Environment minister's prize to Prof. Shimaoka
Prof. Takayuki SHIMAOKA, who was Takahashi's previous boss in Kyushu University, is awarded Environment Minister's prize.
Prof. Takayuki SHIMAOKA, in the center of the picture, is a pioneer in Japan for researches on waste incineration residues using mineralogical approaches. Dr. Takahashi started a research on characterization and recycles of waste incineration residues under his supervision in Kyushu University.
Prof. Masataka HANASHIMA (professor emeritus at Fukuoka Univ.), in the left of the picture, is an international pioneer of landfill research. He established semi-aerobic landfill method, which is de facto standard landfilling in Japan.

Prof. Tetsuya KUSUDA (professor emeritus at Kyushu Univ.), in the right of the picture, is a great expert on Environmental hydrology and estuary engineering. He was awarded "Honour Medal with Purple Ribbon" by Japan government in 2005.

I, Fumitake Takahashi, wish I can succeed something like such great experts someday.

25th, Nov, 2014 AGRO2014
Shenglei LIN made his presentation in 9th IWA International Symposium on Waste Management Problems in Agro-Industries@Kochi.



21st and 22nd, Nov, 2014 7th ASEAN Environmental Engineering Conference
4 master students (Kitamura, Yoshida, Lin, Izumi) made their presentations in 7th ASEAN Environmental Engineering Conference@Puerto Princesa, Phillipines.



22nd, Oct, 2014 Shenglei LIN came back from Kasetsart Univ.
Shenglei LIN came back Japan from oversea stay in Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.
He will present his works and experiences in Bangkok at compulsory class, International Environmental Case Study, on Feb. 2015.


20th, Oct, 2014 2014 Chian-Japan-Korea Joint Symposium on Solid Wastes Technologies and Envergy Conversion
6 students (Kunta, Kitamura, H.Takahashi, Nakai, Yoshida, Lin) made their presentations in 2014 Chian-Japan-Korea Joint Symposium on Solid Wastes Technologies and Envergy Conversion in Dalian, China.

29th, Sep, 2014 Farewell & Welcome party
We had farewell & Welcome party in a Vietnamese restaurant with Yoshikawa lab. and Tokimatsu lab. members.
Two Thai students graduated from Yoshikawa lab. and three students from Vietnam and Indonesia joins to Yoshikawa lab.
Our group welcomes Ms. Song Mengzhu as a new master student!
Three students from Dalian University of Technology, China also joins Yoshikawa, Takahashi, and Tokimatsu lab. as exchange students. Have nice experiences in Japan!




15-16th, Sep, 2014 Excellent poster presentation award!
5 master students (Kitamura, Takahashi, Nakai, Yoshida, and Lin) made their presentations in annual confernece of Japan Society of Materials Cycles and Waste Management (JSMCWM) in Hiroshima. Fumitake Takahashi also made his presentation.



Hiroki KITAMURA was awarded excellent poster presentation prize by JSMCWM. Congratulation!




12th, Sep, 2014 Master course admission result
The result of master course admission test is announced. Two applicants who request to join Takahashi lab. have passed the exam. Congratulation!

29th, Aug, 2014 Selected to AGL!
Shenglei LIN passed the selection of the Academy for Global Leadership (AGL), Tokyo Tech.

25th, Jul, 2014 Summer semester closing party
We had summer semester closing party in an Indian restaurant with Yoshikawa and Tokimatsu lab members!
It is also a farewell party for Mr. Bayu (Yoshikawa lab) who got Ph.D sucessfully the other day.
Joint seminar of three research groups is closed today and it will restart on September. Each lab will proceed research works individually on August.
In our lab, we will prepare interim presentations of master researches, write proceeding manuscripts of international conference and peer-reviewed papers, and enjoy our summer holidays!




14th, Jul, 2014 5th China-Japan Joint Conference on material recycling and waste management
Hiroki Kitamura and Shenglei Lin made their presentations in 5th China-Japan Joint Conference for the community formation on material recycling and waste management, in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido. In the conference excursion, they visited Furano to see beatiful landscape with lavender flowers!



4th, Jun, 2014 Selected as 130th anniversary scholarship awardee!
