Activities in 2016 (School year: Apr.2016 - Mar.2017)

27th, Mar, 2017 Graduation ceremony & farewell party
In School year 2016 (Apr. 2016 - Mar. 2017), one doctoral student (Kunta) and three master students (Song, Jiang and Irwin) completed doctor and master courses successfully. Congraturation!
Kunta started to work in our group as a postdoctoral fellow on Jan. 2017 and Song went to doctor course on Oct. 2016.
Jiang also goes to doctor course on April, 2017 and Irwin returns back his home country, Indonesia, and starts his job career.
I believe experiences in master course will help and support him anytime and anywhere.
March is happy, delightful, but a little sad season for University faculties in Japan.

In the farewell party, I gave one message to all graduates of my group as well as Yoshika lab. and Tokimatsu lab.
I wish my message comes true sometime future.

21st, Mar, 2017 Presentation schedule of Takahashi lab. members in school year 2017
Presentation schedule of Takahashi lab. members fixed and planned in school year 2017 are listed up.

This is the first step for him as a researcher with Ph.D.

1st, Feb, 2017 Presentations in class "Project design and management"
We had a workshop of a compulsory class "Project design and management".
In this class, each student group searches energy situation, advantages/disadvantages of sustainable energy like waste-to-energy, biomass, wind, and hydropower, scenario analysis of zero nuclear for target nation.
Doctoral students faciliated student's discussion in each group. All discussions and presentations were done in English.
All groups had different viewpoints and reported some interesting insights.
Our course, Global Engineering for Development, Environment and Society "GEDES" likely has the highest Japanese-foreign student ratio in Tokyo Tech. We use this advantage for multicultural, multiethnic, and international comunication-minded education.

I, Fumitake Takahashi, won excellent poster award!
Although excellent poster prize is award only to young researchers (35 or younger) in Spring conference, I firstly noticed there was no age limit for excellent poster award in annual conference.

It is really my great pleasure and honor. However, if my students, who will apply to academic positions after Ph.D, could win the award, it will be more beneficail for them because I already got a tenure position in Tokyo Tech.
I'm happy to win the award but feel a little regret that my students missed this opportunity.
